Gatcombe House - Portmouth Gun-point, claimed to be the first mechanised repointing service, has successfully completed a major repointing and restoration contract at Gatcombe House in Portsmouth.

Gun-point was chosen for the job by Warings Contractors, which has restored this 18th century listed building after years of neglect and damage from fire. The exterior of solid lime mortar had been badly eroded by dirt and age, and great care was needed during the raking out process to the required depth of 20 mm.
The Gun-point mortar pump repointed using 1 :2 :6 mortar and a 2 mm ironed recess joint. Consistency of colour was also vital so as not to spoil the Georgian frontage of yellow Beaulieu bricks.

The building is now used by Warings as headquarters for its 50-strong staff
